Dr T. Venkateshwar Rao completed his B.Sc. (BZC), M.Sc. Chemistry (Inorganic) and B.Ed. from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He carried out Ph.D work at CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehradun, as Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research fellow on "Synthetic application of certain metal chelates as catalysts in oxidation reactions" and submitted thesis to University of Roorkee, Roorkee (Presently IIT Roorkee) in 1996 and obtained Ph.D in Chemistry in 1997. He joined CSIR-IIP as scientist in 1996 September and shifted to CSIR -Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in April 2014. He also worked as AIST fellow at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan from 2000-2002.
He has wide research experience in catalytic organic transformations, oxidations of various organic substrates, desulfurization of gases and petroleum fuels, synthesis of functional silicon polymers, development of catalysts for selective and non selective oxidations. He is authored about 22 papers in SCI journals, inventor in 4 international patents and 2 national patents, delivered lectures in International and National symposia and meetings. He is supervisor to more than 25 M.Sc, M.Tech, B.Tech students, 5 Ph.D students and co supervisor to 2 Ph.D students.
