Dr. Surisetti Suresh is working as a Principal Scientist in the Department of Organic Synthesis and Process Chemistry, CSIR-IICT. He obtained his PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from University of Hyderabad under the supervision of Professor M. Periasamy, in 2006. Subsequently, he completed postdoctoral studies at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, IRELAND (2006-2009) and Uppsala University, SWEDEN (2009-2011). He was appointed as a Scientist at CSIR-IICT in November 2011. He has several Publications in the peer-reviewed international journals. He is currently supervising PhD students, Masters students and Project Assistants.
He has developed several useful methodologies including new tandem strategies, C‒C, C‒heteroatom bond forming reactions, NHC-catalyzed imine umpolung that have been applied and demonstrated in the synthesis of pharmaceutically important/biologically relevant compounds.
His research interests: Organocatalysis with an emphasis on N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) Catalysis; Organometallic Chemistry; Tandem Reactions; Development of New Synthetic Methodologies and Synthesis of Biologically Relevant Molecules and New Chemical Entities (NCEs).
