Pavani Vadthya
Mrs. Pavani Vadthya, Scientist, Process Engineering & Technology Transfer Department, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology was born in Nalgonda District of Telangana in 1989. She obtained Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering from NIT Warangal and Masters in Process Engineering from Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research. She is currently working as Scientist at CSIR-IICT. Her research  is mainly focused on Cavitation based Advanced Oxidation Processes, Sonochemistry as well as Membrane Separation Processes for application in waste water treatment, industrial effluent treatment, extraction from biomass, depolymerization, liquid food sterilization, solvent degradation, yarn dyeing and water processing. Presently Mrs. Pavani is working on developments in cavitation technology for emerging micro-pollutant degradation in water, bulk drug industrial treatment, textile effluent treatment, delignification and sugar extraction from biomass. She has developed low cost devices (patented) for instantaneous production of therapeutic Alkaline Ionized Water. She also has expertise in membrane separation processes for water purification, solvent/water recovery from industrial effluents and intermediate streams. She has been associated with various industrial sponsored projects such as separation of chlorides from industrial effluent by nanofiltration process for TATA Steel, Haldia, recovery of acetonitrile solvent from aqueous solution in bulk drug industry for Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Hyderabad and development of composite membranes made of inorganic filler in organic polymer for Arsenic removal from drinking water for Tata Chemicals Ltd., Haldia. In addition she has been a recipient of prestigious national awards such as Young Engineers Award-2015 by IEI, Technological Innovation Award-2017 by CIPET, CSIR-IICT Women Scientist Award 2018, Nina Saxena Technology Award-2017 by IIT Kharagpur and CSIR Technology Award-Certificate of Merit-2018. Her papers presented at national and international conferences have won best paper awards in BARC-Mumbai and BITS Pilani. She has also published several papers in reputed international journals such as Desalination, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Cleaner Production etc.
